Shopping Near Lafayette Hotel in the New Orleans Arts District
There’s no better place than New Orleans to go on a shopping spree. From a couple of malls to tons of small local boutiques, you’ll find a bounty of options to choose from within a few short blocks of the Lafayette Hotel.
The Shops at Canal Place (333 Canal St.)
Anthropologie. Banana Republic. Michael Kors. J. Crew. Saks Fifth Avenue. You could spend the entire day browsing the latest fashions at Canal Place. Housed on the lower three levels of a soaring atrium, Canal Place is the premiere destination for top fashion labels in downtown New Orleans. Shop ‘til you drop, then break for lunch with a light bite at Cafe Canal or a hearty ribeye steak at Morton’s. For local color, be sure to visit the LA Crafts Guild, which has exquisitely crafted jewelry, clothing and home goods made by local Louisiana artisans.
The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk (500 Port of New Orleans Place)
Location, location, location. Unlike most national discount outlets, set in strip malls outside major cities, Riverwalk boasts a front row seat for the best show in town: boats plying the waters of the mighty Mississippi. It also houses a slew of popular labels: Gap, Guess, Tommy Bahama, Steve Madden, Tommy Hilfiger, and Chico’s, to name a few. And you definitely won’t go hungry. Beyond the usual mall food suspects, there’s a branch of Cafe Du Monde, local Middle Eastern favorite Mona’s Cafe, and NOLA Tropical Winery, where you can relax from shopping with an exotic fruit wine.
H&M New Orleans (418 N. Peters St.)
When H&M first opened its long-anticipated New Orleans location in 2013, the line of shoppers waiting to get in stretched for several blocks. And for good reason. Known for its trendy fast fashions, whipped up hot off the runway into affordable versions of must-have styles, H&M chose New Orleans for one of its biggest US stores, which boasts 32,000 square feet of up-to-the-minute apparel for women, men and kids. If you’re an H&M fan, this is a must-shop stop.
Stonefree (611 O’Keefe Ave.)
Like the chic simplicity of Anthropologie and Free People? Then you’ll love the beautifully curated fashions you’ll find at Stonefree: fresh and flirty Flynn Skye dresses, sleek Blue Life bikinis for poolside lounging, and plenty of cool boho accessories to add a little je ne sais quoi to your look.
UAL French Quarter (518 Chartres St.)
Covet fancy designer labels but don’t have the cash to pay designer prices? United Apparel Liquidators is the motherlode for bargain hunters. Though it has several outlets, including one in nearby Metairie, its French Quarter location boasts an especially stellar selection of excess inventory from storied couture houses like Alexander Wang, Gucci, and Chanel.
